Blaugust Day 1: The Beginning

Posted: August 1, 2015 in Uncategorized

Hokay, so. Here is zhe earth. I was told by several friends to give this whole blog-a-day thing a shot. Now, I certainly can’t guarantee that anyone’s gonna give a damn about this by the end, but… well… who says I’m doing it for any of you? What you should expect to see here will likely be some of the following subjects: WoW, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, Diablo, StarCraft, Overwatch hype, beer, beards, bourbon, bacon, food in general, and possibly some slight complaints about coworkers. Maybe some other games here or there, and toss in some brief chat about books or music, depending on how active of a brainsink they take over the next month.

So to start things off… Introductions!! I’m Bane, the Driveling Dwarf. My interests are long walks off a short pier, drinking craft beer and pretending to have a defined palate, bacon, good bourbon, books, bacon and cheese, my beard, cold weather, bacon, and ingesting animals. I tend to also enjoy my own voice and words, which is why a daily blog is likely a good idea for me… Vent some of the crap so I don’t talk everyone’s ears off. Even if it does mean that my main talking point for the next week will be telling people about how I’m trying to blog now…

My initial plan for the blog was to rate a different drink while matching it to a video game… but I lack both the fundage and the liver of steel to achieve that goal. What I will say, however, is the w00tstout 3.0 from Stone Brewing, a collaboration between Drew Curtis (the guy who started Fark), Wil Wheaton (the guy that Sheldon hates in Big Bang Theory), and Greg Koch (the guy who co-founded Stone) is a 13% beer that tastes like pecan pie… dipped in bourbon and chocolate. And after a relatively stressful day, it hits you in the face like a pecan pie. That happens to have a bottle of bourbon and a chocolate bar in it. Delicious, relatively cheap, not too overpowering, and I kinda went through it faster than I realized… which leaves me at 2 AM and contemplating cracking open another beverage, or calling it a night.

Well, one way or another, gonna call this post done. Decent enough intro, and now I wanna tweak some of the settings and make this all shiny.

  3. And now I need to find this damn bear. DAMN YOU!

Welcome to blogging. May your writing be brief, but timely, so that you meet the deadline every day. πŸ˜‰

No but seriously. Many folks aren’t professional writers by any means. Others don’t write regularly either. It’s an experiment with yourself. There is a lot of satisfaction in completing it (I’ve done that with a few nanowrimo’s) and I’m sure you’ll find your voice in there somewhere. Don’t forget to check out the topic thread, which can be helpful if you find yourself blocked by ideas (this is natural and happens to everyone).

Oh, I already have half a dozen different ideas… and that’s just within WoW, and not branching out into other Blizzard games. Or my beard. Or gaming in whole.

Pretty sure I’ve got plenty of crap to get out, and this is just a solid format to spew some of it.
